Rolls-Royce Phantom Arabesque
Rolls-Royce's Bespoke division just delivered the world's first laser-engraved automotive hood. The one-off Phantom Arabesque, commissioned through the Private Office Dubai, features a newly patented technique that took five years to develop. Inspired by Middle Eastern mashrabiya latticework and Italian sgraffito, the process layers dark paint under clear coat, tops it with a lighter shade, then uses a laser to etch the geometric pattern 145 to 190 microns deep before hand-sanding. The Diamond Black and Silver theme carries through the exterior, while the mashrabiya pattern appears inside via Gallery marquetry, embroidered leather, and illuminated treadplates. Every element of the Rolls-Royce reflects the intricate geometry of traditional Middle Eastern architectural heritage.
