Rosewood Schloss Fuschl Castle Hotel

This 15th-century castle hasn't always been a hotel. Restored by the Rosewood Hotels and Resorts luxury hospitality group, the new 98-room escape sits alongside Lake Fuschl at the base of the Austrian Alps, near sanctioned UNESCO Heritage site Salzburg, the home of composer Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart. The castle was originally built in 1461 to serve as a hunting lodge for the then Prince-Archbishops of Salzburg and was eventually converted to a hotel, albeit not nearly as nice as this one, in 1947. With 42 suites and six lakeside chalets, an on-site Asaya Spa, six on-property bars and restaurants, and a guests-only beach club, there's nothing else quite like it in the area, even if this is Rosewood's second opening in Austria. Depending on the room you book, you could sit next to an in-room functioning fireplace, order room service from a dedicated butler, or take in the vastness of Lake Fuschl from your bedroom window.
