Sega Game Gear Micro Portable Consoles
Although superior in several ways to the Game Boy, Sega's Game Gear never caught on in the same way. Now the company is celebrating its 60th anniversary with a re-release that's 92% smaller. Dubbed the Game Gear Micro, the palm-sized console will be available in four colors, each of which carries a different lineup of games. Those include Sonic and Out Run on the black unit, Sonic Chaos on the blue, several Shining Force titles on the yellow, and Megami Tensei Gaiden on the red. While it can charge over USB, it can also run off two AAA batteries, and for those willing to pre-order all four units, Sega will throw in a mini version of the Big Window magnifying-glass accessory, which will likely be necessary given its 1.15-inch display. Currently slated for an October release in Japan, no US release has yet been announced.
