Solaris Global Cruiser Yacht
Most luxury yachts consume an enormous amount of fuel, but since the owners tend to be insanely wealthy, it's not a big deal — for them. It's awful for the environment. The Solaris Global Cruiser Yacht eschews traditional power for a mix of solar panels and alcohol turbine generators that keep the internal batteries charged up, in turn running electric motors that provide nearly silent sailing. Since yachts tend to sit for long periods of time, it's possible to run the boat entirely off solar power, and since the panels lend themselves to angular forms, the boat has a modern design that's as attractive from the shoreline as it is in the water.
