Stanley Kubrick's Abbots Mead House
Set on 2.4 acres not far from Elstree Studios, Abbots Mead is a late Victorian compound that was home to Stanley Kubrick during arguably the most productive years of his career. The main house offers nine bedrooms, as well as period details like large windows, high ceilings, ornate cornices, and a farmhouse-style kitchen. It's joined on the property by a four-bedroom, 3,200-square-foot lodge, a two-bedroom apartment above a detached garage, two greenhouses, formal gardens, and a heated swimming pool with a pool house. Kubrick called the property home from 1965 to 1979, meaning classics like 2001: A Space Odyssey, A Clockwork Orange, and The Shining were likely developed there, making it all the more desirable.
