Steve McQueen Le Mans Heuer Monaco Watch
As Steve McQueen's ode to racing, Le Mans is beloved among motorsports fans. Six Heuer Monaco reference 1133B models were sent to the set for filming, and this model, fitted with a leather strap, was worn by McQueen during the film. After filming, it was acquired by Bevan Weston, a young mechanic who would go on to work for McLaren at the Indy 500 in 1971 while wearing the watch and would enjoy it for years until selling it to a private collector in 2010. That unnamed collector is now parting with the watch, one of the last film-worn Le Mans Monacos to come to auction. It will be the highlight of a collection of notable TAG Heuer "Champions" timepieces at Sotheby's Important Watches sale on December 11th.
