Supernal S-A2 eVTOL Concept
Electric vehicles aren't limited to just four wheels — the technology is slowly spreading to the air, specifically in the short-hop urban market. Hyundai Motor Group's Supernal air mobility company debuted its S-A2 eVTOL concept at the 2024 CES show, a v-tail aircraft designed for a 120 MPH cruise at 1,500 feet. The S-A2 will initially be capable of flights between 25 and 40 miles, with an emphasis on minimizing sound pollution — Supernal claims 65 dB at takeoff and landing with a cruise decibel level of just 45 dB. An all-tilting eight-rotor configuration uses a distributed electric system and multiple system redundancies to meet safety standards that extend to the composite airframe. Supernal plans to have the S-A2 certified by 2028.
