The First OMEGA in Space Speedmaster Watch

The OMEGA Speedmaster was famously the first watch worn on the moon. Before that, it made the trip to space on the wrist of NASA astronaut Walter "Wally" Schirra during the Sigma 7 mission of the Mercury program. The ref. CK2998 was his personal watch, and in years since has been referred to as the FOiS, or First OMEGA in Space. It's now getting a rerelease. This modern version has plenty of heritage details, including a symmetrical 39.7mm stainless steel case, sleek Alpha hands, vintage OMEGA logos on the dial and crown, a hesalite-like sapphire crystal, and a grey-blue CVD-coated dial that replicates the tone of some of those vintage pieces. A Co-Axial Master Chronometer Calibre 3861 movement powers the proceedings, providing modern-day levels of accuracy and magnetic resistance. The watch arrives on either a black or brown leather strap with a buckle, or a flat link full metal bracelet.
