United x Heart Aerospace Electric Aircraft
United Airlines is making an eco-friendly move to help lead the way in innovative sustainability. The global airline is buying 100 19-seat ES-19 electric planes from Swedish start-up Heart Aerospace with their eyes on adding the crafts to their commercial fleet. The planes utilize electric motors instead of jet engines and batteries instead of jet fuel for a zero-emissions footprint. They are also larger than all-electric competitors and once operational could be utilized on more than 100 of United's regional routes. United hopes to bring the ES-19 to market as soon as 2026.
