Universal Genève Polerouter Collection
Before Gérald Genta designed the Audemars Piguet Royal Oak or the Patek Philippe Nautilus, he was a 23-year-old commissioned by Universal Genève to create a watch for SAS pilots flying the world's first commercial polar route from Copenhagen to Los Angeles in 1954. That watch was the Polerouter. Now reissued across a full collection, it keeps the defining details of Genta's original: twisted lugs, crosshair dial, and domed sapphire crystal. The 37mm Polerouter and 39mm Polerouter Date anchor the lineup in stainless steel, each powered by the in-house UG-110 Microtor automatic movement running at 28,800 vph with a 72-hour power reserve and water resistance to 330 feet. The Camaïeu adds a four-tone cameo dial inspired by fashion and art, while the Hardstone replaces the dial entirely with fibrous stone marquetry. One of the great watch designs of the 20th century, made available again.
