Urwerk UR-100V Ultraviolet Watch
The latest version of Urwerk's UR-100 adds a new color to one of the most unique watches on the market. Announced at the 2022 Geneva Watch Days in Switzerland, the UR-100V Ultraviolet uses Urwerk's famous satellite display in a deep shade of royal purple. The Urwerk 12.02 movement uses three pyramids to display the hours, which pass over a minute track in the lower part of the dial. After the hour hand passes over the minute track, it is hidden by a shield, with the next hour hand starting the sequence again at the start of another hour. The previous hand then reappears to show one of two astrological complications: the 555 kilometers the Earth rotates on its axis, while the third hand indicates the distance the Earth has traveled along its solar orbit, or 35,740 kilometers every 20 minutes. This gives the wearer not just the time of day, but a sense of time on the scale of the universe around us.
