Ventete aH-1 Cycling Helmet
Ventete, a London-based design firm, is launching an innovative take on cycling helmets. The aH-1 is an inflatable helmet that folds flat to just over an inch thick. Ventete's multi-patented pneumatic structural system uses pressurized air instead of foam, making it lighter with an equal safety factor, exceeding both UK and EU requirements. Testing by the Imperial College London found the aH-1 was better than foam helmets in linear and rotational impacts, two of the leading causes of brain injuries in cycling accidents. Eleven interconnected nylon chambers are each reinforced with polymer ribs for durability and are lined with padding that minimizes punctures. The aH-1 can be inflated in just 30 seconds with the rechargeable pump and can be stowed in nearly anything, from a laptop bag to a backpack. The Ventete aH-1 will be available to the general public on July 16th.
