Right in the middle of Nirvana's best-selling, industry-changing album Nevermind is the song "Polly". With just Kurt Cobain and an acoustic guitar, the song is one of the darkest in Nirvana's catalog of dark music. Based on a true story, it details the abduction, rape, and torture of a young girl — from the perspective of the rapist. Despite the song's uncomfortable subject, it's also one Nirvana's most powerful — and a testament to Cobain's willingness to confront the stark demons in society, himself, and his support for equality.
Director Kasi Lemmons puts the spotlight on iconic American abolitionist Harriet Tubman for her upcoming biopic. The film will follow the legendary freedom fighter as she escaped slavery and eventually led hundreds more to freedom on the Underground Railroad.
