Nineteen Eighty-Fortnite
After Epic Games violated the Apple Store guidelines by introducing Epic direct payment — a way to pay directly to Epic, essentially cutting Apple's profit and passing it to users by saving them 20% — the highly popular game was removed from the store completely. The game developer responded with a lawsuit and this video parodying Apple's iconic "1984" Super Bowl commercial. Inspired by George Orwell's 1984, the spot introduced the Macintosh and therefor ending IBM's monopoly over the computer industry. Accompanying the video is a statement, "Epic Games has defied the App Store Monopoly. In retaliation, Apple is blocking Fortnite from a billion devices. Visit FreeFortnite and join the fight to stop 2020 from becoming 1984."
