Vipp Salaca River

This officially sanctioned log fisherman house built in 1876 is no longer where it once sat. Gently relocated over a decade ago, it now resides in one of Latvia's most scenic nature parks, the Salaca River Valley. Arturs Martinsons, the founder of Latvian design studio xcelsior, brought the home, which was set to be demolished, back to life, rearranging its layout and restoring its historic charm, proving that Scandinavian minimalism can mesh nicely with antique features. With two bedrooms, an updated kitchen, a living space with a modern, metal fireplace, and uninterrupted views of the surrounding landscape from a wraparound terrace, two peninsula-style decks, and a platform for a built-in hot tub, each stay is as much about embracing the intentional interior design choices within the home as it is the natural beauty beyond it.
