Vollebak Raw Hemp Hoodie & Sweatpants
Hemp has been banned by governments, blamed for society's collapse and almost taxed out of existence. But the truth is hemp is one of the most misunderstood and future-facing materials on the planet. It's so strong the Egyptians used it to haul rocks around when they were building the pyramids, and Chinese warlords built their armour from it. From an environmental perspective every tonne of hemp produced removes 1.6 tonnes of CO2 from the air. It requires zero pesticides and very little water to cultivate. And it's so smart scientists now use it to clean up soil, water and air contaminated with radioactive isotopes after nuclear meltdowns. Vollebak's new line is raw hemp clothing. It launches with its Raw Hemp Hoodie and Raw Hemp Sweatpants. Vollebak has done as little as possible in the journey from turning a plant into clothes. The colour is off-white because that's the colour of raw hemp's fibres. With no dyes and no treatments, it's a new way of creating white by using the plant itself. Soft and easy to wear, the fabric's fibres are hollow - so they trap pockets of air to keep you warm in winter, but let the clothes breathe in summer.
