Wahi Lani House
Meaning "heavenly place" in Hawaiian, the Wahi Lani House lives up to its name. The modern beach house is located in Hanalei Bay on the island of Kauai. Designed by Walker Warner, its exterior is treated in the traditional Japanese method of Shou Sugi Ban, creating a charred black facade. The inside contrasts the stark exterior with warm honey-hued floors and ceilings. A U-shaped layout wraps around a central courtyard, allowing living spaces access to the tension-edge pool. The interior spans 2,384 square feet and includes three bedrooms, including a primary wing with an office, sauna, and gum. Elsewhere, you'll find an everyday kitchen and an entertaining kitchen with a built-in pizza oven. Although there are no direct views of the ocean, the white sand beaches are just a short walk away.
