Yamaha Upcycling Guitar Concepts

Making an instrument requires a lot of wood — and a lot of that wood ends up as scraps on the shop floor. Yamaha has created two guitar concepts that upcycle those scraps into high-style, fully functional instruments. The two concepts are the Model Marimba, made from rosewood used in marimba tone bars, and the Model Piano, made from woods used in the production of pianos, like spruce, birch, and maple. Both guitars use a scientifically designed system of chambers to give the guitars a unique tonal character while also addressing the problem of material waste.
