1963 Ferrari 250 GT/L Berlinetta Lusso by Fantuzzi

Of the great Italian coachbuilders of the '50s and '60s, Fantuzzi isn't the first to come to mind. Former Ferrari race car designer Medardo Fantuzzi rebodied one Ferrari 250 GT Lusso, drawing inspiration from the factory Lusso, 330 LMB race car, and the GTO. Originally purchased by Luciano Pederzani, co-founder of Tecno and a well-known figure in Formula racing circles, Pederzani and Fantuzzi decided on the bodywork with Fantuzzi performing the modifications beginning in 1965. The original V12 was replaced with a later Lusso V12 around the same time. In 1968, the car was registered in New York City, where it eventually made its way to Texas, with the owner adding further details like 250 GTO-style intakes and vents behind the rear wheel arches. The car was sent to the UK for restoration, with 250 GTO molds and drawings used to finish the one-off bodywork. Currently located in the UK, this 250 GT Lusso will go to auction via RM Sotheby's.
