1967 Toyota 2000GT
Of the Big Three Japanese auto manufacturers, Toyota had a reputation as a maker of staid, basic transportation. Nissan had the Skyline and Honda was racing in Formula One and making world-class motorcycles. Yamaha had an idea for a sports car that no one wanted, and Toyota jumped at it. The 2000GT is often called the Japanese E-Type, and bears some resemblance to its British counterpart. Only 351 were made, and only six were finished in Bellatrix Yellow as the example here, making it an important piece of Japanese automotoive history.
