Range Rover Velar

The Range Rover has been around for 48 years. In that time, there have only been three basic models — the original, the Sport, and, starting in 2010, the Evoque. Time to add a fourth to the list. Slotting in between the latter two models, the Range Rover Velar is the marquee's latest. Its interior is remarkably minimal, relying on two ten-inch touchscreens for many controls, and hiding many others until needed. The interior is also sustainable, with a woolen upholstery material offered as an alternative to leather, and smart, with a full-color heads-up display. It's powered by one of three engines, including an 180 hp diesel on the low-end and a 380 hp supercharged 3.0L V6 engine on the top, all mated to an eight-speed ZF transmission. Of course, it's still a Range Rover, which means it can get you and up to four passengers wherever you need to go, thanks to intelligent all-wheel-drive and a full suite of assistance systems that are ready to help should you need them. Available in four different trims and arriving at dealers later this year.

  • 2018 Ford Expedition

It's been more than 20 years since the first Ford Expeditions rolled off the line, and while it's been updated several times, the changes the 2018 Ford Expedition has undergone might be the most dramatic. The new SUV arrives at about 300 pounds lighter than its predecessor thanks to a new aluminum body and lightweight components. It also boasts 22-inch polished aluminum wheels and a prominent, new chrome grille. Inside, the Expedition comfortably seats 8 and features Sync 3 with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, a B&O Play premium sound system, wireless charging, WiFi hotspot, and Sync Connect app-based vehicle controls. A timely refresh for one of the constants in the ever changing world of SUVs.

  • 2018 Dodge Durango SRT

It's got all-wheel drive and the best towing capability in its class, but the 2018 Dodge Durango SRT is far more concerned with speed than it is with utility. Powered by a 475 hp HEMI V8, its "America's fastest three-row SUV", with a 0-60 time of just 4.4 seconds and a quarter-mile of 12.9. All that power is sent to the 20-inch wheels via an eight-speed automatic and a seven-mode driving system that lets you change settings on the fly. It looks the part, too, with a wide body, functional hood scoop, and new front fascia, while the interior is well-appointed in leather, suede, and carbon fiber trim.
