We've seen plenty of high-end sports cars borrow technology from F1 racing, but a single-seater urban commuter? That's exactly what you'll find in the Renault Twizy Sport F1 Concept ($TBA). By borrowing the Kinetic Energy Recovery System (KERS) from Renault's F1 cars, the Twizy Sport can boost nearly 100hp, dashing from 0-62 mph nearly as quickly as the flagship Mégane R.S. road car. Other unique features include slick racing tires, a front splitter, side-pods, a huge rear wing, diffuser, and an F1-style rain light. As you might imagine, we wouldn't expect to see one on the street this year, or the next, or pretty much ever.
Some concepts seem ready for production, while some make you wish they were ready for production. The Mercedes-Benz GLA Concept ($TBA) belongs in the latter category. Built on the same compact vehicle architecture as the A- and B-Class, this compact crossover is powered by a turbocharged 2.0L four-cylinder good for 208 hp that's paired to a 7-speed dual clutch automatic transmission and MB's 4MATIC all-wheel drive system. That's all fairly normal, as are the 20-inch wheels, large roof spoiler, and interior that features a blend of leather and dark galvanized aluminum. The air vents are illuminated from behind, glowing blue for cool air and red for warm, but that's not outlandish — what is are the laser-beam projector headlamps, which provide light at night but can also project nearly anything you want onto a flat surface. That includes pictures, navigation info, or even video taken with the two removable HD cameras that are mounted on the roof rack. Coming to a dealer near you in 2026. Just kidding — we hope.
Not that we don't like the current WRX, but if this is to be the future of the line, you can count us emphatically "in". The Subaru WRX Concept ($TBA) has arrived to offer clues as to what the next-generation WRX might resemble, and the news is almost all good. Up front, you'll find an aggressive new front end, with a larger, bolder grille that sticks out to make room for the turbocharged engine and intercooler — but thankfully the iconic hood scoop remains. A carbon fiber roof and a lower, wider body extend to the rear, where you'll find a dramatically curved trunk lid that acts as a spoiler, as well as a large black rear diffuser set between quad tailpipes. The whole thing sets on BBS "RI-D" One Piece Forged Duralumin wheels, which may or not make it to the production version — if/when it ever appears.
Well, that didn't take long. The 2014 Corvette isn't even out yet, and we've already got an aftermarket conversion package. The Callaway AeroWagon Concept ($15,000) aims to turn the new Stingray into a shooting brake using a body package that's made using a resin transfer molding process that produces precisely-fitting, load-carrying carbon parts. In other words, the AeroWagon will boast far more room inside than a typical C7, while still achieving speeds of over 200mph.
It's only a concept, but my, what a concept it is. The Lamborghini Sesto Concept ($TBA) is setting a new bar for lightweight supercars, thanks to advanced carbon fiber technology construction that gives it a curb weight of just over 2,200 lbs. — and that's including its V10 engine and permanent all-wheel drive. And while the V10 outputs "only" 570 hp, that's still good enough for a 1.75 kg per hp power-to-weight ratio and an insane 0-62 mph time of just 2.5 seconds. If you're wanting to get your hands on one, you'd best wish for A.) Lamborghini to make it and B.) some sort of financial windfall, because this thing isn't gonna come cheap.
