Swiss Castle-Find Car Collection

Barn finds are nothing new, and typically involve dusty vintage cars that have spent years — or decades — hiding in plain sight. This Swiss Castle-Find Car Collection, on the other hand, is full of pristine automotive jewels. Among them is a 1958 Mercedes-Benz 300Sl Roadster, a pair of early Rolls-Royces, a four-seat Lamborghini Espada, and a handful of more affordable yet highly desirable cars including everything from a Maserati Indy America to a 1973 Ford Mustang. All 12 of the classic cars are to be sold without reserve at the Spa Classic sale in Belgium on May 21.

  • 1984 DeTomaso Pantera GT5

One of less than 300 built, this 1984 DeTomaso Pantera GT5 is an excellent example of this once-overlooked sports car. Powered by a 351-cid V8 engine linked to a five-speed ZF manual transaxle, it combined reliability with Italian design. This particular model underwent an exhaustive $85,000 restoration, and as such its black paint, distinctive GT5 bodywork — complete with optional rear wing — burgundy interior, gated shifter, and Veglia gauges showing 21,000 km are all in a show-ready state.

  • 1972 Alfa Romeo Montreal

With a sleek body from Marcello Gandini at Bertone and a powerful, high-revving 2.6L dry-sump V8 engine, this 1972 Alfa Romeo Montreal is a surprisingly affordable piece of classic Italian automotive design. This particular car was delivered new to France and imported to the UK in 1989, and has under 45,000 km on its odometer. Well maintained over the years by previous owners — including one former mechanic — it comes with an extensive history file that makes it a solid candidate for restoration.
