1971 Citroen SM

With an original interior and gleaming exterior, this 1971 Citroen SM is a fine example of a car that was highly innovative for its time. The SM came to life not long after Citroen's acquisition of Maserati, with chief constructor Giulio Alfieri tasked with converting Maserati's legendary V8 into the V6 that powers it. But while the engine produced enough power to make the SM the fastest front wheel drive car on the road, with nearly 170 hp and a top speed of 140 mph, it's forward-thinking features like the self-leveling suspension, variable assist power steering, and available lightweight carbon-reinforced resin wheels — not to mention that dramatic body work — that make it so appealing today.
