570hp V10. Permanent all-wheel drive. 19 inch-wheels. 0-62 in just 3.4 seconds. All very impressive stats — but you won't be buying the Audi R8 LMX for any of those reasons. Instead, the LMX stands out from the crowd thanks to its... headlights. Indeed, this stunning supercar will be the first production vehicle with laser high beams. The advanced system kicks in automatically at speeds of 37 mph and above, with dual laser modules creating a cone of white light with twice the range of the all‑LED headlights. After all, if you're going to make good use of all that speed, you need to see where you're going.
Is it a race car, or a racy daily driver? Actually, the Rezvani Beast is a little bit of both. Based on the Ariel Atom racer, the USA-made Beast features a sleek carbon fiber body penned by Samir Sadikhov, who previously created both the Aston Martin DBC and the Ferrari Xerzi, as well as 19 inch wheels and aggressively slender headlights. It comes in two flavors: the 300 model, which packs a turbocharged 2.0L engine pumping out 315bhp and a 0-60 time of 2.9 seconds, or the 500, which is powered by a supercharged 2.4L engine cranking out 500 bhp and a 0-60 time of just 2.7 seconds. Either way, there's no way you'll be mistaken for slow.
For too long, the quest for a fuel-efficient sports car has been largely dominated by one approach — plug-in or hybrid electric engines — and in that quest, not nearly enough attention has been paid to the obvious benefits of diesel power. The Trident Iceni represents a counter to that approach, sporting a 6.6-liter V8 engine capable of producing 395 horsepower and an incredible 700 pound-feet of torque. All that power and torque means it can hit 60mph in just 3.7 seconds, and a top speed of over 190mph, all while claiming a range of around 2,000 miles on a single fill-up. And with classic British sporting-inspired style (available in a convertible, fastback, and shooting brake body) it's really hard to go wrong with this one.
