While its name's a little corny, its looks are nothing short of stunning. The Ferrari California ($TBA) is an all-aluminum 2-seater with a retractable, folding hard top. Under the hood, the Maserati-esque convertible will feature a mid-front mounted 460-hp 4.3-liter V8. Other specs include a 7-speed dual clutch transmission, F1-Trac traction control system, and a 0 to 60 time of under 4 seconds.
"Rally car driver" is only behind "Natalie Portman leg shaver" on our list of dream professions. But with our old-man reflexes beginning to sit in, the closest we'll ever get to the rally life will probably be owning a Subaru Impreza WRX STI (starting at $35,000) and tearing up the gravel back roads. Luckily, the latest update makes the STI the meanest hatch we've ever seen. It packs in a 305-hp DOHC intercooled, turbocharged Subaru Boxer engine, 18 x 8.5-inch 18-spoke BBS aluminum-alloy wheels, a Brembo brake system, and STI-design front bumper with integrated spoiler. Looks-wise, the new 5-door is a vast departure from past WRX models, looking more like a mutant Peugeot than a Subaru.
Get the great looks of the convertible without soft top with the 2009 Pontiac Solstice Coupe ($TBA). Available in standard (173 hp) and GXP (260 hp) versions, the coupe is pretty much mechanically identical to the convertible, save for the roof. You won't have to give up all the open-air fun with the coupe, however — it sports a removable hard targa top, and a soft fabric panel to put in place if the weather gets bad while the hard top is at home.
