The First BMW M Car
Not long after joining the brand in 1972, Bob Lutz set about making a factory competition racing team. The first fruits of that effort were prototypes of the Werks CSL racing car, of which this was the first — making it the first BMW "M" car. Chassis E9/R1 was built during the winter of 1972/3 as the test and development car for the team and was used to develop the now-iconic Batmobile aero kit. Over the past decade, under the care of a noted BMW collector, it has undergone an expert restoration, with a focus on keeping it as original as possible. It is highly eligible and guaranteed entry to some of the greatest international historic events, and is now offered for sale publicly for the first time ever.
