1979 Ferrari 308 GTS from Magnum P.I.
Producers originally wanted a Porsche 928 for Magnum P.I., but the automaker refused to allow modifications needed for aerial shots, handing Ferrari an opportunity that would define the 308's cultural legacy for decades. The 1979 GTS that appeared in the show's pilot and carried Tom Selleck through the entire first season is heading to auction with no reserve. The odometer reads just over 93,000 miles. Originally delivered in Fly Yellow by Ferrari North America, it was repainted Rosso Corsa for filming, and the color-change tag is still on the doorjamb. Authenticated as one of just three carbureted 1979 examples used in season one by Ferrari expert Mathias Urban of F-Register, it's also believed to be the car P.J. O'Rourke drove cross-country for a 1980 Car and Driver assignment.
