1979 Ferrari 512 BB/LM Race Car
Ferrari will be making its return to Le Mans for the overall prize in 2023 for the first time since 1971. While Ferrari hasn't been competing at the top for over 50 years, it has had a presence in GT-class endurance racing over the intervening decades. This 1979 512 Boxer Berlinetta is one of 25 made for competition in the late '70s and early '80s. Its first race was in 1982 and went on to run in several IMSA races, including the 1985 24 Hours of Daytona. The car wears Pininfarina bodywork over a space frame chassis, with a mid-mounted 4.9-liter boxer twelve driving the rear wheels. Not just a display piece, the car has competed in vintage races over the years and sits ready for the grid, having just had an engine-out service.
