1991 Range Rover Pharaohs Rally
In 1991, gentleman racer Franco de Paoli bought a new Range Rover and had it prepped for the Paris-Moscow-Bejing Rally taking place that same year. The event was canceled, leading to Paoli running Range Rover in the Pharaohs' Rally in Egypt that same year — and winning the T2 class. The Pharaohs' Rally took place over 3,100 miles of Egyptian desert, pushing man and machine to their limits. The Range Rover ran the 1993 Paris-Dakar Rally, but didn't finish due to a mechanical failure. In 1995, the SUV would serve as a press vehicle for that year's Paris-Dakar Rally, following the race and providing coverage of the event. Paoli returned the Range Rover to a mostly stock configuration and drove it regularly. It's since been restored to its rally raid glory and is going to auction on April 2, 2023.
