1993 Porsche 959 Komfort Series II Coupe
Porsche's first true supercar debuted in 1987 with the 959. The twin-turbo, all-wheel-drive powerhouse was the fastest and quickest car a citizen could buy and came loaded with futuristic tech like active suspension, a composite body, run-flat tires, and selectable drive modes. Although production officially ended in 1988, two clients from Macau and Hong Kong convinced Porsche to build six — or maybe eight — 959s from leftover shells and parts Porsche had on hand in the early '90s. Serial number 291, the car pictured here, is one of those final 959s built. These last 959s were built to 1988 Komfort specs but had some subtle changes to the interior and upgrades to the adaptive suspension system. Despite its rarity, this 959 has covered 71,941 kilometers with peerless service provided by Porsche's Classic Factory Restoration service. The car goes to auction at Bonhams' Quail Lodge event during the 2024 Monterey Car Week.
