With a legacy that dates to 1953 and the first ascent to the summit of Mount Everest by Sir Edmund Hillary and Tenzing Norgay, Rolex's Oyster Perpetual Explorer has been one of the brand's longest-running, and most consistent, models. For 2021, Rolex is expanding the model's horizons beyond simple steel. Ref. 124273 is a yellow Rolesor version combining Oystersteel and 18 ct yellow gold, giving it a striking two-tone appearance complemented by a black lacquered dial and signature 3, 6, and 9 numerals bordered in gold. It's joined by a more traditional Oystersteel reference; both are powered by the modern caliber 3230 movement and gets downscaled like the classic Ref. 1016 Explorer to measure 36mm.
