2024 Dodge Charger Daytona EV
What a long, strange trip it's been. The Dodge Charger went from peak muscle car in its first three generations, to personal luxury yacht in the mid-'70s, to a subcompact hatchback in the '80s, before returning as a four-door sedan in the mid-'00s. Now the seventh-generation Dodge Charger has received its biggest makeover yet, available as a true BEV or with an inline-six — both with better horsepower and torque numbers than the outgoing HEMI V8s. A Charger coupe will also be offered for the first time since the '80s, offsetting the loss of the discontinued Challenger. The all-electric, all-wheel-drive Charger Daytona arrives first in late 2024 with a 400v architecture and 100.5kWh battery making 670 horsepower. The twin-turbo inline-six Charger Sixpack S.O. makes 420, with the Sixpack H.O. peaking at 550. The ICE models come standard with all-wheel drive and an eight-speed automatic transmission. The Charger is new from the ground up, borrowing heavily from the classic second-gen Charger. Inside are the now ubiquitous digital dash and central touchscreen, with at least some physical controls available and a clean, distinctly gimmick-less layout. The ICE versions of the Charger will release sometime in 2025.
