Airspeeder Racing Series

Slated to hit the skies within 18 months, Airspeeder hopes to be the world's race of flying cars. The race vehicles will come in both quadcopter and coaxial octocopter versions, will measure roughly 13 feet long by 11.5 feet wide, and will be clad in lightweight bodywork inspired by mid-century racers. Weight is expected to be roughly 500 pounds without the pilot, although with a 500-watt discharge rate expected from the batteries, they should have no trouble hitting speeds up to 120 mph. Manned demonstrations are planned for this November, with both time trial and head-to-head races expected once the series gets going next year.
