Alpine Alpenglow Hy6 Prototype

Alpine debuted the latest version of its hydrogen-powered supercar, the Alpenglow Hy6, at the 2024 Paris Motor Show. The Hy6 improves on the previous Hy4 with an aluminum 3.5-liter twin-turbo V6 making 740 horsepower, nearly double the output of its predecessor. The Hy6 can hit 205 MPH with a 9,000 RPM redline, blending the sublime soundtrack of ICE engines with clean-burning hydrogen. The Hy6's engine is a collaboration with Oreca, the French racing team and constructor, artfully housed underneath a transparent panel. Three composite tanks carry gaseous hydrogen at over 10,000 psi with an emergency system to safely vent them to the atmosphere in an accident. Alpine hopes to pave the way towards a hydrogen-powered debut at Le Mans, possibly as soon as 2028.
