American Civil Liberties Union
Founded in 1920 by a group of activists that included Helen Keller, the American Civil Liberties Union has for a century worked tirelessly "to defend and preserve the individual rights and liberties guaranteed to every person in this country by the Constitution and laws of the United States." Over the decades, the non-partisan, non-profit group has received praise and taken heat from both sides of the political spectrum. Which makes it all the more important in the fight for the BlackLivesMatter movement. With both lawyers and lobbyists, it continues to protect individual freedoms and makes for a worthy charitable cause.
