Running on hundreds of millions of devices, iOS is one of the most-used software platforms in the world. Apple continues to evolve it with its 16th major release. A reimagined Lock Screen offers customizable colors and typefaces, widgets to display information like battery levels, activity, weather, events, and more, and less intrusive notifications that roll in from the bottom of the screen. Expanded Focus features can tie the Lock Screen to a specific Focus, while Focus Filters can remove specific accounts from apps like Messages, Mail, Safari, and Calendar as appropriate. Other new features include improved on-device dictation, live text in video, camera view translation, automatic photo subject selection, shared photo libraries for families, an improved Maps experience, a new Home app, and expanded personal safety features. iOS 16 will launch this fall.
