2006 Porsche Cayman S

2006 Porsche Cayman S

Stuck between the semi-girly boxer and the über-expensive 911, the 2006 Porsche Cayman S (starting at $59000) is in a market position other sports cars only dream of. The car’s mid-engine 3.4L six-cylinder powerplant produces 296 hp, enough ponies to propel the car from 0-60 in only 5.1 seconds with a top speed of 171 mph. The perfect Porsche for the young, affluent — but not yet rolling in cash — executive.

  • 2006 Civic Si

The first car we featured on Uncrate was a Civic Si, the 2005 hatchback model. Honda has only had time to improve the formula since then, and the result is the 2006 Civic Si Coupe ($TBA). With a 197 horsepower i-VTEC engine, 17” alloy wheels, a 350-watt 7-speaker sound system, aluminum and leather trim, and safety features such as front, side, and side curtain airbags, it’s the best Si yet. Sealing the deal for us, however, is the optional satellite-linked navigation system and iPod adapter — now we just have to hope Santa brings us one when they become available in December.

  • Panoz Esperante GTLM

One of only two exotic car producers in America, Panoz builds every car by hand — including the beastly Esperante GTLM (starts at $121,325). The GTLM Convertible is one of the sexiest sports cars around, and it’s fast as well — it goes from 0-62 in 4.2 seconds and has a top speed of 180 mph. Did we mention how great the supercharger’s whine sounds while buzzing down the road with the top down and the wind blowing through your hair?
