Lotus Evora

Lotus Evora

Finally, a Lotus with an interior to match its exterior. The Lotus Evora ($TBD; 2009) is the British carmaker's new 2+2 coupe, offering 276 hp from a 3.5L V6, a curb weight of just 2,976 lbs., and an interior filled with high-end appointments like leather, a navigation system, Bluetooth, iPod connectivity, and more. Fantastic styling, adult creature comforts, and legendary Lotus handling combine to make this one of '09s hottest rides.

  • Ronn Scorpion

It appears independent car makers are stepping up amid crazy gas prices to bring some stylish green into our lives. The just-announced Scorpion ($TBA) from Ronn Motor Company is a sexy speedster that will run on a 30-40 ratio blend of gas and hydrogen, promising around 40 mpg efficiency while still being able to hit 60 mph in 3.5 seconds. The fuel for the hydrogen-on-demand system is "derived from fracturing water molecules drawn from a small on board water tank, and will not require a high pressure, on board hydrogen storage tank or hydrogen fueling station," according to the company. The carbon fiber beauty is now in pre-production, with availability scheduled for this fall.

  • The Amp

If you've been lusting after an all-electric convertible and have tired of waiting on the Tesla Roadster to arrive, your ride is now here. The Amp ($25,000 plus the cost of the Sky) is an all-electric conversion of the Saturn Sky, the funky-logo'd cousin to the Pontiac Solstice. Featuring a zero-to-60 time of 5.7 seconds and a top speed of 90 mph, the Amp is no slouch, and it can run for 150 miles per charge, emitting zero emissions and costing only 3 cents per mile to drive. It's the most affordable eco-friendly drop-top we've seen yet.
