Navatek UHAC Military Vehicle

If you absolutely have to be able to anywhere, the Navatek UHAC is your vehicle. The Ultra Heavy-Lift Amphibious Connector is a prototype for transporting containers from ship to shore and over nearly any obstacle. Currently in testing with the Marine Corps, the UHAC is powerful enough to haul three Abrahms tanks — but the one shown here is only a 1:5 scale model of the proposed full-sized design.

  • 2017 Mercedes-Maybach G650 Landaulet

Mercedes-Benz Geländewagen is a bit of an anachronism: It's an unapologetically industrial SUV with real off-road capability, not a watered-down all-wheel-driver built for pavement only. With the Maybach G650 Laudaulet, Mercedes juxtaposes the G even more, giving it a luxurious overhaul without sacrificing capability. Starting with a 22-inch longer chassis, Mercedes wedged the twin-turbo 6-liter AMG V12, portal axles, rear seats from the Maybach S-Class, and a power-folding soft top. Imagine a the off-road performance of a Hummer H1 with a much nicer interior. Only 99 were made, and this is the last one yet to be sold.

  • Volkswagen California XXL Camper

Don't get excited — despite the California name, VW won't be selling it in the US anytime soon. Based on the Crafter commercial van, the California XXL is an RV that would put the pop-top Microbus to shame. The fully-outfitted interior has a built in stove, cooler, bath and an upper heated and cooled sleeping compartment with a panoramic glass roof. There is seating for four, with the two front seats being able to swivel around to face the two rear forward-facing ones. Add to that a plethora of storage areas and a light, airy design, and you have a VW better prepared to go places than anything since the legendary Microbus.
