Sony Bravia KDL-70XBR3 70-inch LCD HDTV

Sony Bravia KDL-70XBR3 70-inch LCD HDTV

It's certainly not a product we'd call "affordable," but we're lusting over the Sony Bravia KDL-70XBR3 LCD HDTV ($33,000; Feb. 2007) anyway. It boasts 1920 x 1080 resolution, Triluminos LED backlighting, a 7000:1 dynamic contrast ratio, MotionFlow 120Hz fast-frame rate, and is the world's first LCD with x.v.Color, which is Sony's name for xvYCC, a new international standard in color technology. If you have the money, this is the TV to buy.

  • Panasonic PT-AE1000U Projector

One of the better options out there right now for home theatre enjoyment is the Panasonic PT-AE1000U projector ($6,000). This pricey home cinema projector has 1080p native resolution and offers up to an 11,000:1 contrast ratio. Other goodies in this device's feature set
include an aspherical glass lens system
for crisper, more vivid images and seven
    preset picture modes.

  • Xbox 360 HD DVD Player

If you happen to already own an Xbox 360 and a HDTV, this should be a no brainer. Finally available, the Xbox 360 HD DVD Player ($200) makes for one of the most affordable hi-def movie players around. Its integration with the 360 is top notch, and the picture quality is tremendous. Now, we're not saying buy one and immediately start replacing that giant DVD collection — but for the titles that really matter, the extra clarity is well worth the entry fee.
