Stranahan's Snowflake Whiskey

The whiskey coming from Stranahan's in Colorado keeps getting better and better. And every year in December, they share some of their best and bottle it as Stranahan's Snowflake Whiskey. It's made using 100% malted barley and Rocky Mountain water and then aged in new American oak for a minimum of two years. Then, the whiskey is transferred into used wine, sherry, cognac, rum and tequila barrels to absorb new flavors from the casks. Seven different barrels were used for the 2016 edition, which was sold for one day only at the distillery in Denver.

  • Johnnie Walker Triple Grain Scotch Whisky

As one of the most iconic brands in whisky, you might not think of experimentation when you think of Johnnie Walker. But the truth is, they've been tinkering with recipes for decades, with the latest evidence coming in the form of their Blender's Batch series. Johnnie Walker Triple Grain American Oak Scotch Whisky is the latest in the series and the first to hit U.S. shores. Inspired by the time Johnnie Walker's master blender spent in Kentucky blending bourbon and rye, Triple Grain was aged for at least 10 years in American oak, including bourbon casks, and is made using five whiskies, including grain from the now-closed Port Dundas distillery as well as malt from Mortlach.

  • Tyrconnell 16 Year Old Irish Whiskey

Whiskey is booming everywhere. But you might be surprised to know that the brown spirit making the biggest moves right now is none other than Irish Whiskey. Among those gaining popularity is Tyrconnell, named after the unlikely winner of the National Produce Stakes Horse Race in 1876. Their latest release is a 16-year-old single malt made using only the finest Irish barley and pure Irish spring water. Produced at Cooley Distillery in County Louth, this special expression is an ideal celebratory pour on St. Patrick's Day but will keep your interest long after the holiday as well.
