Audemars Piguet Code 11.59 Universelle RD4 Watch

In 1899, Audemars Piguet created the L'Universelle pocket watch with 26 functions, including 19 complications. Using that as inspiration, the new Code 11.59 Universelle RD#4 is the brand's first ultra-complicated automatic wristwatch. Powered by the 1,155-component AP Calibre 1000 movement, it offers 40 functions, with 23 complications and 17 technical devices, including a Grand Sonnerie Supersonnerie, minute repeater, perpetual calendar, moon phase, split-seconds flyback chronograph, and flying tourbillon. The movement is housed in an impressively small 42mm case that's just 15.5mm thick. The various functions are controlled via three pushers on the left side and three "supercrowns" on the right; the calendar appears in windows at 3, 4, 9, and 12 o'clock in the standard dial models and is incorporated into the subdials on openworked models. Four references in total will be offered, each with a case made from various golds and finished with black alligator straps.
