Audemars Piguet Royal Oak Double Balance Wheel Openworked Watch

Limited to lots of 150 in stainless steel, yellow gold, and black ceramic the new 41mm Audemars Piguet Royal Oak Double Balance Wheel Openworked features no dial — hence the "openworked" in the name. It refers to a watch without a face, which puts the movements, made from contrasting metals on each model, front and center. On the stainless steel iteration, the movement is made from rich rose gold, which appears warmer than most versions of this material because of the higher copper content. The same movement appears within the black ceramic model, too. The 18-karat yellow gold release frames a smokey, rhodium-plated movement. These aren't all clash and contrast, though — on each reference the hands on the openworked face are meant to match the case metal, meaning the stainless steel model has silver hands, black ceramic boasts black hands, and the gold has gold ones. This is the ideal model for most AP enthusiasts — it's the proper size, with just enough flash to separate it from the pack (if a Royal Oak wasn't already enough).
