The majority of electric vertical takeoff and landing aircraft revealed thus far have been one- or two-person affairs. Which makes the Y6S Plus from UK-based Autonomous Flight fairly unique. As the name suggests, its large cabin will have room for up to six passengers, while the twin rotors are set up in a "Y" configuration to reduce complexity, with two on the canard and one on the tail. Six motors drive the rotors, powered by a lithium-ion battery that offers a range of 80 nautical miles and speeds up to 125 mph. As a result, it can make the trip from lower Manhattan to JFK in just eight minutes, and while it will be piloted to start, the company plans for fully autonomous flight in the future, with ballistic recovery parachutes hidden in the composite fuselage for added safety.
