BAC Mono Roadster
BAC is bringing its Mono single-seat sports car to the US with a thorough redesign of the decade-old platform. The biggest changes come in the Mono's Ford Duratec-based 2.5-liter inline-four. Power is up by 6 horsepower to a total of 311, with a higher redline of 8,000 RPM. Weight is a number that hasn't gone up, with the Mono still weighing in at a flyweight 1,257 pounds. Thanks to the increased power, light weight, and six-speed sequential transmission, the Mono can hit 60 MPH in just 2.7 seconds. The mechanically-adjustable, pushrod-actuated suspension and electronically-controlled dampers have all been tuned for a more pleasant ride on the street without compromising track performance. Production has started, with the first batch of cars having already sold out.
