Drawing equal inspiration from military boots and athletic shoes, Balmain's first foray into sneakers — overseen by creative director Olivier Rousteing — is befitting a brand that refers to its fans as an "army". The Troop Strap Trainer, available in hi-top and low-top, combines a glove-like leather upper with Balmain-branded mesh straps that buckle on the side and a rubber sole that wouldn't look out of place on a runner. It's joined in the new lineup by a version that replaces the straps with extra-long laces, and by a more traditional basketball-style sneaker.
