Banyan House
The first Carmel home designed by Frank Lloyd Wright apprentice Mark Mills, Banyan House is a quaint mid-century masterpiece. It adopts many Wright principles, including the use of local materials in construction — original redwood beams and siding mix with custom "desert masonry" concrete work — plentiful natural light, and stained glass windows in more intimate areas. Sited just up the street from downtown Carmel-by-the-Sea, it also features a solarium, a separate studio, and a custom iron gate giving entry to the lush, manicured grounds.
