BMW Motorrad Vision DC Roadster Motorcycle
BMW is moving towards electrification with its road cars, and they aren't about to leave their motorcycle division out. BMW Motorrad's Vision DC Roadster is a look at what the future holds for motorcycles, while keeping its heritage alive with styling cues from the iconic boxer engine. BMW used the cooling system for the battery pack to create the familiar horizontal horns associated with its boxer engines, and when the electric motor is started, the horns move out slightly to give a visual indicator that the bike is ready to operate. By using the battery as a focal point, the aluminum frame and elements like the seat, forks, and swingarm seem to levitate around it — reinforcing the powertrain as the centerpiece of a motorcycle. While the Vision DC Roadster is unlikely to see production, the design study is an exciting look at what's to come from BMW Motorrad's electric future.
