Bobby Rahal's Toyota 2000GT Coupe
One of only 352 built, the Toyota 2000GT represents both the birth of the Japanese supercar and a rare piece of automotive history. Designed by Yamaha and produced by Toyota, its design was heavily influenced by Jaguar's E-Type, and represented a bold departure from Toyota's supremely reliable, if supremely staid, stable of cars. The Solar Red 2000GT pictured here is rare even by 2000GT standards, with a provenance that includes initial delivery to Mozambique, and later ownership by legendary racer Bobby Rahal. The car recently sold at auction for nearly a million dollars.
